More about Freemasonry
What’s it all about?
01.
What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest fraternal organisations. Under the United Grand Lodge of England, it is a society of men concerned with moral and personal development, guided by principles of integrity, kindness, and charity.
Freemasonry is not a religion, nor a substitute for one. It welcomes members of different backgrounds and beliefs, encouraging them to be better individuals in their personal, professional, and community lives.
Freemasons use symbolism and tradition to teach values such as honesty, fairness, and responsibility. These lessons are shared in a spirit of openness, mutual respect, and lifelong learning.
Throughout history, Freemasonry has included many notable individuals, such as Isaac Newton, demonstrating its long-standing appeal to those interested in knowledge, self-improvement, and service.

Charity and Community
In March 2026, three members of the Lowestoft Community First Responders team attended the Masonic Hall in Lowestoft to show off the new kit, which was paid for by the members of St. Margaret’s No.1452 Lodge and their Chapter. Last year the members of the lodge voted to pay for a new kit to help out in the community. These kits cost upwards of £3,500 to put together and will enable another responder to be available and ready to help save lives within the local community.
The Lowestoft Community First Responders passed on their thanks for the donation.

Social Gatherings
Our members come together in social settings to share meals, converse, and build lasting friendships, creating a sense of belonging and community beyond our rituals.

04.
Lifelong Friendships
Our organisation helps forge lifelong bonds among members, providing a supportive network that extends beyond meetings, enriching lives through shared experiences and collective growth.
